We Love You Phillies

My wife’s parents came over yesterday to eat lunch and watch the ballgame. My father-in-law used to sell sports cards and memorabilia – he stopped twenty years ago but he still has a bunch of stuff, and every once in a while he will fill a bag with a bunch of interesting newspaper clippings and baseball cards, pictures of Tug McGraw, and give them to me. It’s always exciting to a hoarder like myself.

This time around, among all the other stuff, was a sealed, previously unopened record made by The Phanatics in 1979, and I knew that I would have to share it with you today.

Solid gold after the jump:

  • Timhx

    Gee, what fun!

  • SchmidtUltra

And then I changed my ringtone.

  • JetGirl4

That record came with a sweet-ass poster of the ’79 team, too.

  • AFN

Proving once again that Veterans Stadium is indeed the hippest place in town.

  • Disco Stu

    Disco Stu loves this post!

  • petey

I have this record. It was given to me as a gift in 2007 and was the first thing we played on the stereo after Lidge’s clinching strikeout in 2008.

I don’t have the apparent poster that came with it though.

  • Bake McBride

    This is groovy

  • JohnMatrix

the begginning makes me think im watching en episode of CHiPs

  • my beer

    Wow…just wow

  • Murt

  • Ed Burns

This makes me feel like I’m watching Vernon Odom on Visions. Or, perhaps Jim O’Brien on Prime Time.

    Thanks for sharing it.

P.S. I’d like to see some feature about what Scotty Palmer does for the Phillies org.

  • Ricky Jordan Fan Club

I never thought I’d ever hear a Phillies-themed song worse than “Those Phillies Thrill Me” but you learn something new every day

  • TN Phils Fan

Anyone remember this one? I have the 45 somewhere…
