The Phillie Phanatic makes a cameo on The Simpsons

I didn’t get a chance to watch the episode yet, so I’m a little unsure of the context, but here is proof of the Phillie Phanatic’s triumphant(?) debut on The Simpsons where he appears to be greeting a group of nuns who are getting off of tiny boats:

Matt P over at The Level has video posted from the ep if you’re into that sorta thing.

UPDATE: Now, thanks to commenter Robert, I have absolutely no interest in actually watching the episode. Instead, I’ll just choose to believe it revolved around the story told by Chamo during his Phillie Phanatic roast:

I want to share a story with you about my good friend — and our guest of honor tonight — the Phillie Phanatic.

A couple of years ago, the Phanatic and I were up in Alaska hiding from his bookie. One day, we got completely shitfaced because when you’re in Alaska, it seems like the only sensible thing to do.

We staggered up to a convent nearby, and I started whaling on the front door. Sister Mary Whats-her-face answered, and the first thing I said was, “Do you have any midget nuns around here?”

She said, “No, we don’t.”

I turned to the Phanatic and said, “See? You fucked a penguin.”

Cham, you didn’t tell us he had already fucked a nun once before in his roast, you just mentioned the penguin.

The occasional brilliant bit aside, it has pained me to watch the Simpsons become a shadow of its former self over the past 6 or so years.

In other Phanatic-related news, a buddy of mine just sent me this wonderful portrayal of our beloved mascot, drawn shortly before the World Series started:

I guess being the WFC Mascot has its perks. Say what you will about the writing going downhill over the years, but The Simpsons is still better than half the shit on t.v. these days, and I am sure the Phanatic is ecstatic about getting a cameo on this classic show.
This is a crazy story, but I’m sitting at a bar one Sunday night a couple years ago, and one of my boys calls to say he just heard them say my name on the Simpsons three times. The bartender was a buddy of mine and lived upstairs from the bar. He is TiVOing the show. I run up to his apartment and rewind the show sure enough in the episode “Million Dollar Abie” They say I am Cheif Wiggum’s brother-in-law.
