Harry Kalas Is Honored After Clinching The NL East

In the most touching tribute of the night, the Phillies all marched out to left field after clinching their 3rd straight NL East title to huddle around the Harry Kalas billboard, pay their respects, and douse it with champagne and beer.
An extremely classy move by the Fightins.

My seats are right in centerfield. Truly, the greatest moment of this season was watching this team run towards HK.
And now that I’m home, watching the end of the game I really believe, why can’t we do this again?

Watching the Angels from afar putting beer on that jersey left a bad taste in my mouth. But, I do have to admit, seeing the team do this with the HK sign, made me understand the personal touch to the Angels celebration. Very moving. I was wrong to dis that team with their celebration. Seeing Werth with the cigar in his mouth and that bottle of champagne gave me a bump in my throat.
I’ll be there tonight-let’s go get home field advantage!

Watrick, I agree. But the difference for me is that Nick Adenhart was killed by a drunk driver. So the image of pouring beer and champagne all over his jersey seemed a little ironic in a bad way. But I get that it’s tradition, and it means a lot that they are including Adenhart and Harry in the celebration. To see Jimmy wearing Harry’s shoes and jacket would be awesome. Can’t wait to see the Phillies do it again in 09!!
I definitely teared up when they started heading across the field to touch the sign… does anyone know the song that was playing when that happened?

And to be honest, it took me a couple minutes to figure out why people were upset about the Angels tribute to their teammate. I had to sit there and go, “….pouring beer on his jersey…WTF…..ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh…the drunk driver thing.”
then I was like – F it. They loved the guy. They can honor him anyway they like.

Crystal clear picture with the sound turned low 1-3 and 7-9 has been winning so far.
