    Also, reminder #838473 that Ruben Amaro traded Cliff Lee for a bunch of second tier prospects for literally no sensible reason whatsoever, and is systematically dismantling the future competitiveness of what could have been an impressive dynasty with his terrible talent evaluation and market sense.     Also, the “couldn’t afford to leave the cupboard bare” is such bullshit, considering Amaro didn’t even quietly SHOP.

    We would have gotten draft picks, and the MLB Draft isn’t the NFL or NBA draft, where the top 20 draft picks are all stars. Not every MLB Draft is the 2005 one.
